I went to Mexico City for Dia de los Muertos and was lucky enough to eat, eat, eat all weekend long. This picture was taken at Sanborns-- la casa de azulejo--. It is an amazing Sanborns, complete with a courtyard which houses the main seating area of the restaurant. Large alters dedicated to the dead surrounded us as we ate and I felt like I was in heaven! The coffee was sweetened with cinnamon and a tiny bit of sugar, which for all intents and purposes, seems to work as a better sweetening agent than just plain sugar. Somehow, I felt less bogged down, less heavy; which is completely ridiculous given the insane density of a typical mexican breakfast-- if you don't believe me, look at the picture above!
